Pamporovo Resort To Invest 13m Leva In Ski Lift

Pamporovo AD, the company that manages Pamporovo resort in Bulgaria, plans to extend its ski area to the village of Stoikite with the construction of three-kilometre six-seater chair lift.

It has already received the environmental impact assessment from the environment ministry and estimates the costs of the project at 13 million leva, investor.bg said.

The lift will service two new ski runs with a total length of seven kilometres, which will be built in 2008.

The project is part of the wider plans to connect the ski zones in Chepelare, Pamporovo and Perelik, investor.bg said. To make the new ski runs more attractive to tourists, the company also plans to invest in a villa settlement in Stoikite.

In addition to the new lift, Pamporovo AD had invested more than 40 million leva in improvement of the ski infrastructure of the resort over the past four years, increasing the number of beds and extending the ski zone in the region. The total length of the ski runs in Pamporovo is now 55 km.
