A change being born

While most of the world is holding breath in anxious anticipation what will the novel corona virus crisis bring next, maybe we are witnessing a change bigger than exchanging a handshake with a bow or the next epic fight in tremendous scales with devastating economic catastrophe in human history.

 In the last weeks when trying to cover with due attention all the overwhelming news from all possible sources that can possibly be reached in our digitalized world, witnessing the chaotic movements of governments all over the globe changing their rhetoric every now and then and observing how huge part of population, eagerly cooperates to every next step, we can clearly sense something more is in the air. And the origin of this “more” is not in the endless conspiracy theories around the COVID-19 virus or not even from the piling fear that all horrifying numbers of deaths that echo from everywhere in our lives feed. The extraordinary unprecedented situation, that billions of people are pushed into, disrupting the daily routine in each social circle and creating guaranteed insecurity, somehow creates prerequisites for simplicity in human existence and opens senses in human for realizing it.

For weeks, after the popularity of the pandemic crisis started, looking at the Google analytics of our real estate company’s profile, it clearly shows growing number of people from the most badly hit by the disease areas in the world, spending unusual long time at checking pictures and videos of properties visualizing large green landscapes giving a feeling of a place “good to be“. This, followed by many emails, received from different countries, requesting about remote rural places lacking the comfort of the modern life, created something like a clear tendency among this representative sample of people - planning and hoping for a life closer to Nature. Some of those people being pushy in obtaining the chance to own such a place as soon as possible, trying to overcome the administrative obstacles the system restrictions have created for buying a property at the moment, gave to the tendency a stronger taste. However when I have discussed this observation with friends and colleagues, some of them suggested it is about searching security and privacy in turbulent times, which most probably is indeed part of the truth but still I strongly believe it is something much more beyond it. I had number of interesting, very nonbusiness orientated talks with people requesting for a rural property through our website. Those people being from different locations, age and social status were all united by a common feeling that I could define in short as search for simplicity in life. And because somehow it is a general truth that people are most sincere and real in difficult moments this definition became full of essence.

What defines human life in the common understanding of our nowadays reality is: Where we stand in the society?  – Where we live, what we work, which is our social circle and where we are looking at for future  for us and our families. Of course each of those has many adding sub points but they are not the focus of this cogitation.

The moment when a lot of people at relatively same time, turn their life choices to hypothesizes, which are entirely lacking the pylons of the common understanding about existing reality – a change is being born. Of course there can be endless speculations in what such change in human can evolve into and how the systems will reflect it, but they are all irrelevant to the fact that in the last few weeks most of the people directly or indirectly affected by the situation with the corona virus, had a thought that there is something very wrong with the way we approach living and spend our lives. And exactly then the images of a tidy home with a   green, sunny garden where children’s laughter fills the air, put the first seeds of a change.
